My Karate Kid
Broderick has asked us for about 4 years to do karate. We always talked about it, but then put it on the back burner. There always seemed to be something else. Scouts, wrestling, soccer...and we are not a family that likes to over commit the kids in activities.
Over the summer, at scout camp, they had a martial arts day. There was a guy there that I was immediately impressed with. We looked into his school, did some trial classes and pretty much decided the first night we would sign Broderick up. He has been doing it for almost a month now and absolutely loves it! I do too! Every night I walk into the building I get in a good mood. The instructors and kids are so kind and friendly. (Which is a huge part of what is taught.) The kids, and adults, are awarded for things they do at home. Reading, self discipline, picking up after themselves, treating others with respect. All around he is learning great martial arts, self defense and responsibility. And...he is super excited to test and get a new belt!

oh that's awesome!!! my brother did karate and i remember going to the tests. they were pretty cool, but looooong! or at least they seemed that way as a kid. :) but that is really neat about all the "extra" stuff he is learning besides the martial art itself!
And a bonus... he looks really cute in his karate uniform. (Are they called uniforms?) Go Broderick!
