New York, New York

This is long overdue, but I did want to get some pictures from our trip to NYC on here. We had a wonderful time as mentioned before. Rob's parents and family had a great time with the kids and the kids had a great time as well. We can't wait to do it again!
We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art one day. It was so amazing! There were so many neat things to look at. They had pieces of actual tombs, hundreds of pieces of art, an area set up like a Chinese temple, armor form thousands of years ago. I am very glad we got to do this. I have wanted to go ever since I saw it on project runway.
We walked through a very small part of Central Park and saw this band playing. They weren't very good, but there are bands like this all over the park. It was so peaceful and relaxing in the park.
We took this picture for Broderick. This Darth Vader was made entirely out of Lego's. Pretty amazing. Broderick would have loved all the cool things we saw at the toy stores.
Fourth of July we had a cookout at Rob's brothers. It was a lot of fun! The kids played outside all day and at night we set off fireworks. Broderick and Carys loved going for rides on the tractor and I got a kick out of Rob driving it. Us city people don't always fit in out in the country. Rob has farm roots, but they are way down deep. It is funny to see them come out when we go see his family. We had a great trip and I can't wait to go back.

The dessert I will never live down!

Our family just got back from a wonderful vacation. We drove to Rob's parent's house on Friday, spent the night and dropped the kids off. On Saturday Rob and I drove to New York until Thursday. Rob had work things going on and I just tagged along with some other wives. We did some really fun things and I will post those pictures later. However, I feel like this story deserved its own post. On Sunday we went to eat at a really nice steak place. There was a group off 30 of us, so we got to eat in the basement in the wine cellar. That was really neat. After the meal, everyone ordered dessert. I ordered a "piece" of chocolate mouse cake. (You know me and chocolate.) When I saw the waitress walk in the room with this "piece" of cake, my heart stopped. I was really hoping it was not my "piece". Of course it was and wouldn't you know it, I was the only one out of 30 people to order this dessert. You will see by the picture below why I was so mortified...

No lie, it was the 2ND biggest piece of cake I have ever seen. (The first was the Velvet cake at the Hotel Del Coronado.) The chocolate cake could have fed at least 6 people. Again, you know me and chocolate so I ate about 1/4 of it.

So if that isn't bad enough the next night when we were out to eat, with the majority of the same people and some new faces, it was dessert time again. Next thing I know, the waiter sits an entire chocolate mouse cake down in front of me and says, "This is from the lady at that table," and points to Linda. (A woman Rob works with that sat at our table the night before.) Now I was really embarrassed. It really was funny and it just goes to show the kind of fun people Rob works with.
