Fun Weekend

Hey everyone! Sorry it has been so long since I have posted. We have been busy...playing outside, going to the potty (which is going great by the way!), doing yard work, Rob had a minor surgery, and just enjoying the warm weather. On Saturday, I took the kids to where my mom and step dad where camping to get them out of the house while Rob recovered. We had such a great time. Rob and I talk every summer about getting a tent and this trip really made me want to. We went fishing as soon as we got there. Broderick casted his line out and it was literally in the water for 1 minute and he had a bite. Rich helped him reel it in. It was a 7" beauty! Broderick was so excited! He talked about his fish for about 3 days. They also bought Carys a fishing pool and she just had fun casting it and reeling it in.
Broderick's fish. He didn't want to even touch the fishing line, but Carys dove right in and touched the fish.

Broderick has one more week of school and then it will be officially summer in our house. Can't wait!

My BIG kids

So, Carys has decided that she wants to go pee on the potty. I really was not in any hurry to train her, but on Tuesday she started telling me every time she had to go. She only went 2x in her diaper all day. (one of those was at nap time.) Wednesday and Thursday she was still telling me, but it was just a little too late. She still has been going on the potty a good amount of the time. I think she is going to have to feel it in something other than her diaper to get the idea. So this morning we are off to Target to buy "them". I was so not anticipating this. Everyone with girls kept saying they are easier than boys, but I really didn't plan on even trying until this summer. Carys obviously had different plans.
Broderick is finishing up his last day of swim lessons before we start the summer session. He has learned how to float on front and back, go all the way under water blowing bubbles, jump off the side of the pool, swim with help half the length of the pool, and they are working on going off the diving board. He has done such a wonderful job and it makes me feel more comfortable about this summer.

Mother's Day at School

Broderick's school had a Mother's Day program on Tuesday. It was so nice and fun. The kids had helped the teacher put nice table clothes on the table and make a place for each mom to sit. Then we made 2 crafts, ice cream sundaes, and listened to the kids sing a couple of songs. I love seeing Broderick in this element. I can tell he really gets a long well with the other kids and really loves school. His teacher is wonderful and she has been great with Broderick. In about 2 weeks they are doing a Father's Saturday. That should be fun for Broderick and Rob!
below: Broderick with his friend Sydney. Some of you have heard me talk about her. She is such a sweet little girl. There seems to be a pack of four that really play a lot. Broderick, Sydney, Braeden and Lauren. They seem like the real out going ones of the class. Sydney's grandma asked me to take a picture of the two of them, because she didn't have her camera. She said, "you never know, someday, we might be looking at this picture as they walk down the aisle." I thought that was funny for a grandma to say. It is a cute picture though.
Broderick and Braeden in their frog hats. They wore these hats and sang a song about frogs sitting on a log. It was very funny. Braeden and Broderick have become very good friends. We have gotten together a few times outside of school and his mom and I have become good friends. Hopefully we can maintain the friendship.
It was a very special day for me and I will always remember it!
